It is strongly advised against mixing THC drinks with alcohol. Combining the two substances can dramatically intensify impairment (often called “cross-fading”) and lead to unpredictable and unpleasant effects like dizziness, nausea, or severe intoxication.

The difference is purely a legal distinction based on the concentration of Delta-9 THC:

• Delta-9 THC is the primary psychoactive compound in cannabis that causes the “high.” Chemically, the D9-THC molecule is identical whether it originates from a hemp or a marijuana plant.
• Hemp-derived THC comes from the cannabis plant legally classified as hemp. Under federal law, this means the plant and its derivatives contain no more than 0.3% D9-THC on a dry-weight basis. Products that meet this limit are considered federally legal.
• Marijuana-derived THC comes from a cannabis plant with a D9-THC concentration that exceeds the 0.3% limit (often cultivated to be much higher). These products are regulated under state-specific medical and recreational cannabis laws and remain federally illegal.

Do not drive after consuming a THC beverage. THC impairs reaction time, coordination, and judgment. Given the delayed and extended effects, many experts recommend waiting at least 8 to 12 hours after consuming an oral cannabis product (like a drink or edible) before operating a vehicle or engaging in other safety-sensitive activities. Wait until the effects have completely worn off.
